Both Union Bank Basketball Club of Lagos and Comets Club of Lagos Saturday recorded victories against the Police Baton Club and Customs respectively, in the ongoing DSTV-sponsored Nigeria Basketball League , played at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
The Coach Ayinla Johnson-led Union Bank beat the Police team by 61-50 points in the first match, while the Ayo Bakare-coached Comets outdunked Customs by 65-60 points in the second match.
Speaking after the match, an elated Johnson, who was on Thursday appointed as Head Coach of the national U-18 Men’s team, said his players played according to instructions. He added that the victory was a boost to their chances of making the Super 8.
While reacting to his new appointment, the former senior national team captain opined that: “It is an honour to be called to serve one’s country.”
