Heartland, Warri Wolves crash Out Of CAF Confederation Cup

Heartland took their shaky 3-2 CAF Confederation Cup first leg win in Owerri two weeks ago to AC Leopards of Congo and eventually lost 2-1 to the ambitious Congolese side in the second leg tie decided on Sunday.

The tie finished 4-4 on aggregate but the Congolese club progressed via the away goal rule.

In another epic game, Black Leopards of South Africa sealed their place in the last 16 of the Confederation Cup same day with a deserved 2-0 win over Nigeria’s Warri Wolves.

Wolves won the first leg 3-1 at the Warri township stadium a forthnight ago, but the South African club progressed 3-3 on aggregate, courtesy of an away goal.

Meanwhile, Sunshine Stars of Akure made it to the next round of 2012 CAF Champions League, after defeating Djoliba FC 1-0 in a second leg knock out game at the Ijebu Ode stadium on Sunday. Sunshine qualified on 2-1 aggregate having held Djoliba to 1-1 in the first leg two weeks ago.
