Five persons were feared dead in Kano, northwest Nigeria when unknown gun men invaded Tukuntawa Quarters along Zoo Road Sunday evening.
According to residents, the gun men came on motor bikes and started shooting people, some of them playing cards, at random.
“There were sounds of gunshots that lasted for over 1o minutes. The men were just shooting at people. There was pandemonium as people ran helter skelter for dear life. It was a horrible experience and this means that we are no longer safe.”
The incident has further increased fear within Kano city as security has been further beefed up. The area has been cordoned off by security operatives as road blocks were mounted across the city with fierce-looking security men stopping and searching people. The Police Public Relations Officer for Kano Command, Magaji Musa confirmed the incident but could not say how many people were killed.
