Basketball: Deepwater Begin Training For Zenith League

The defending champions of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF/Zenith Bank Nigeria Women’s Basketball league, First Deepwater of Lagos have commenced training at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

The Coach Lateef Erinfolami-tutored side are to continue from where they stopped at the end of the first and second phases of the league held in Kaduna and Ilorin respectively, where they were unbeaten in all their matches.

The team have intensified their training ahead of the first jump-ball of the final phase of the league slated for 31 May through 9 June, 2012 in Lagos.

The Oil and Gas ladies are gunning for their third straight title having defeated their arch rivals and former champions, First Bank of Lagos in the first and second phases held early this year.

The club chairman, Babatunde Babalola, urged the players and the coaching crew to complete what they started during the first phase by staying unbeaten till end of the tourney on 9 June.

Babalola also promised the players some handsome reward if they remain unbeaten for the whole season, adding that they should remain focused on the FIBA-Africa Zone 3 Elimination slated for Monrovia, Liberia later in the year.

First Deepwater will begin their campaign in the final phase against Plateau Rocks Basketball Club on 31 May, at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
