Lagos 2012 Ibile Games: Yaba LCDA Lead Medals Table
Yaba LCDA are leading the Medals table at the on-going Lagos State Sports Festival, Ibile Games 2012 with 7 Gold, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze medals, followed by Ibeju-Lekki LCDA with 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 7 Bronze.
Ifako-Ijaiye LGA are in the third position with 3 Gold, No Silver and 1 Bronze.
Alimosho LG have 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 8 Bronze medals ahead of Bariga LCDA which have 1 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. Placed in the sixth and seventh positions with 1 Silver, 1 Bronze and just 1 Bronze medal, respectively are Coker-Aguda LCDA and Ajeromi Ifelodun LG.
Meanwhile, semi finalists have emerged in the Men’s Handball event. In the Quarter final matches decided at Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba defeated Coker-Aguda LCDA with a 26-17 win, while there was an even exchange of fireworks with the finest handball skills on display in the explosive match-up between Ojokoro LCDA and Badagry LG. The Ojokoro lads had the upper hand at the end of the thrilling encounter as they earned a narrow 15-13-point victory over the unlucky Badagry side.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner for Youths, Sports, Wahid Enitan Oshodi has commended participants at the Games.
Chairmen of Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in the State for the enthusiasm demonstrated by the Athletes at the on-going Lagos State Sports Festival, Ibile Games 2012.
The Commissioner gave the commendation after a watching some of the games at the Teslim Balogun Stadium and Rowe Park Sports Centre on Wednesday, expressed the appreciation of his Ministry to the LG Chairmen for the warmly embracing the ideals of the Festival noting that by so doing, the Chairmen are working in tandem with the Administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola in re-invigorating sporting enthusiasm and returning the fading glory of sports at the Centre of Excellence.
Oshodi expressed satisfaction with the standards exhibited by the competing Athletes in the various sports noting that he is confident that records will be broken and new Sports Stars will definitely emerge during the Games.
