11 Arrested For Human Trafficking

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Seme Border Command, near Badagry, says it has arrested 11 suspected victims of human trafficking.

NIS Area Comptroller, Mr. Julius Ogbu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry on Thursday that the suspected victims, five boys and six girls, were arrested at Owode and Seme on Tuesday morning.

“Immigration operatives arrested the human trafficking suspects at Owode and Seme on Tuesday while crossing to Benin Republic.

Ogbu said the suspects had been handed over to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other Related Matters (NANTIP) for further investigation and prosecution.

The comptroller said the girls, who were headed for Mali, had no valid travel documents, while the boys were being taken to Cotonou to sell buns.
