Angry Keshi Blasts Critics Over Exclusion Of Osaze, Yakubu In Eagles' List

Keshi: Nigeria's Coach

Against the backdrop of criticisms that greeted the Eagles’ list for the coming World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifying matches, Super Eagles’ coach, Stephen Keshi, has said that critics have no reason for raising their eyebrows over the selection.

He said: “I am not happy at all about what people are saying concerning the list that was released yesterday. I don’t understand why people are criticizing the list because some particular players are not included.

“Are they faulting the list just because Mikel Obi, Osaze Odemwingie and Yakubu Aiyegbeni are not included? Are they now saying Nigeria cannot produce a good team if these players are not included in our team?’’

However, the former Super Eagles’ skipper argued that the invited players are considered on the grounds of their current performance in their various clubs.

“All the players that are invited are all doing very well in their respective clubs. That is why we have invited them and not because of any reasons that some people are complaining about,” concluded Keshi.
