International Friendly: Home Eagles Leave For Peru Today

Home-Based Super Eagles, coach Stephen Keshi and other members of the technical crew will today jet of the country to Peru for next week’s international friendly match.

Media Officer of the Eagles, Ben Alaiya disclosed that the team will depart for Madrid, Spain today before hitting Lima, the capital of Peru tomorrow.

He revealed that an advanced party, led by the team’s Secretary has left for Peru since Thursday.

Alaiya also said that Coach Keshi has assured other Nigerian players who could not make the list released on Thursday that they are very much in his plan for future engagements of the senior national team.

“The coach assured the players that the country and the Eagles belong to everybody irrespective of the club they are playing for. “The immediate plan now is to give new players the chance to play for Nigeria,” Alaiya said.

Meanwhile, former assistant coach of the Eagles under the erstwhile coach Samson Siasia, Dutchman Simon Kalika, has said that the friendly against Peru is another opportunity for Keshi to assess his players ahead of the crucial World and Nations Cup qualifiers against Namibia and Rwanda in June.

Kalika, who wants Keshi’s team to beat Peru in the tie, said more international friendly matches are needed by Keshi.
