Niger Assembly Sacks Another Speaker Again

In less than a week the Niger State House of Assembly Tuesday impeached its Speaker Alhaji Isa Kawu and elected Adamu Usman as the new speaker.

It was alleged that the administration of Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu was not comfortable with the emergence of Isa Kawu as speaker following the removal the former Speaker Muhammad Tsowa. The governor allegedly masterminded the impeachment of Isa Kawu.

Before the impeachment proces, military and armed policemen were drafted to the premises of Assembly Complex to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
