Police Chief Condoles With UNILAG

The Area ‘C’ Commander of the Nigeria Police Force, Mr. Muhammed Ali, has condoled with the management and staff of the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, on the death of the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Adetokunbo Sofoluwe. Sofoluwe died on 12 May, 2012.

The Area Commander who was accompanied by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of Sabo Police Station, Mr. Anthony Aruna(SP), prayed that the Almighty God, in His infinite, mercy, should grant the departed soul eternal rest.

On hand to receive the police chief were the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Management Services, Prof. R.A. Bello, and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic and Research, Prof. Jide Alo.

In his remarks, Prof. Bello thanked the commander for the visit and promised to carry the Nigeria Police along in the burial programme which will be announced by the deceased family.

According to the commander, death is a necessary end that comes when it is due but noted that the death of Prof. Sofoluwe was untimely and as well, created a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.

Part of the police condolence letter reads: “On behalf of the entire personnel of Area ‘C’ Police Command, I wish to commiserate with you, the university authorities and the entire university community over the demise of the erudite scholar.”
