Ibile Games: Lagos Island’s Quartermiler Shines
Lagos Island Local Government Area, has asserted its dominance in the quartermile of Ibile Games by winning gold medals in the men and women 400metres and a silver medal in the men 400metres hurdles.
Saheed Odu, who represented the LGA in the 400metres men, won a gold medal by breasting the tape on the dot of 48.9secs, while Abike Egbeniyi ran 55.7secs to win a gold medal in the 400metres women. Also, Saheed Odu won a silver medal for the local government by running 55.2secs in the 400metres hurdles.
In other events, Elizabeth Bello, who represented Surulere Local Government, won a gold medal by throwing 30.40metres in discus, Iju Anouefo of Bariga LCDA won a silver medal and Chika Ezeobi of Somolu LCDA won a bronze medal.
Peter Okuglu of Bariga LCDA threw 40.84metres to win a gold medal in hammer and Olayinka Ayala of Yaba LCDA won silver medal, while Ibrahim Atobatele of Somolu LCDA won bronze medal.
In short put, Uju Ayoliefo of Yaba LCDA threw 12.60metres to win the event’s gold medal, while Oraukimi Ekere of Alimosho LGA won silver medal and Ifeoma Efobi of Surulere LGA won bronze medal.
