Why I’ve Not Been Able To Fight -Akinbode
After conquering Nigeria, former National Lightweight Champion, Akeem Akinbode left in search of the proverbial greener pastures in the United States of America but the absence of his fights records has dashed his hopes of stepping into the ring to fight.
Akinbode informed from his base in the USA that he has made frantic efforts to see how his past fights could be forwarded to relevant authorities but it has since remained a mirage.
He noted that he even made contacts with the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, NBBof C saying “Secretary General of the NBBof C, Remi Aboderin did his best by sending some of my fight records to fightfax and boxrec but the problem is the previous board of the NBBof C because they don’t have accurate boxing records”.
He however advised the present board of the NBBof C to make keeping of records paramount to as to forestall further recurrence on promising Nigerian boxers, who may want to fight outside the chores of the country.
In his words “I want the NBBof C to use my present predicament as a case study because I left Nigeria with high hopes but the failure of the NBB of C to keep accurate records is working against my dreams and aspirations so I’m imploring them to always keep records and also send the records to the concerned authorities because of promising Nigerian boxers”.
