Gunmen strike in Borno, kill party leader

Unidentified gunmen have shot dead in Maiduguri Amodu Gombe, the Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Nafada Local Government area.

Lt-Col. Sagir Musa, the spokesman of the Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO) in BornoState, confirmed the killing to newsmen on Saturday in Maiduguri.“Information at the disposal of the JTF indicated that at about 12.20 p.m. on Friday, Alhaji Gombe was shot dead at Unguwan Yashi.

“He was killed by suspected assassins and efforts are being intensified to apprehend the killers,” Musa said.Some residents earlier told newsmen that a group of teenagers on Friday afternoon shot Gombe who was on a visit to a relative in the Unguwan Yashi area of Maiduguri.
