Eguma Hopes On Ivorian Star
Dolphins coach Stanley Eguma has offered his support for Ivorian striker, Boris Konan after he missed a string of sitters in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat of ABS FC.
Eguma told SuperSport.com that he allowed the former Enugu Rangers front man to play the whole duration of the game because he was new in the team and showed enough potential to deliver in the future, despite being wasteful in front of goal.
“He missed a good number of chances, but I feel he could get better in subsequent matches because he was very good on the ball, always making runs into goal scoring positions, and generally caused problems for the Bukola defence,” he told SuperSport.com.
“You could see what happened when Omo Ojabu came in; Omo is a goal getter and their combination quickly resulted in a penalty because they disorganised the defence.”
Eguma therefore urged the fans to remain patient with Konan.
“This is only his second match so let’s try as much as possible to ensure he is not under any pressure,” he pleaded.
“I’m sure if he keeps on playing regularly, the goals will come.”
Interestingly, Konan was released by high-riding Rangers for firing blanks in over a dozen appearances earlier in the season.
He plied his trade before his Nigerian adventure with top Niger side, ASFAN de Niamey.
