Christians in Ondo State have been advised to unite and form a formidable group to support a credible candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

The Chairman of Christian Leaders’ Forum, Dr. Sam Ogedengbe, offered the advise during a chat with newsmen in Lagos after a brief visit to Akure, the Ondo State capital recently.

Ogendengbe told newsmen that during his stay in Ondo, he met with some Christian leaders in about eight local government areas of the state and discussed with them the advantages to be derived from such unity before, during and after the election.

The cleric also advised the Christians to begin to pray to God to give the state a servant-leader as governor after the October poll.

Ogedengbe, who is also the Senior Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Christian Religion Matters, said he was not in Ondo to canvass for a particular political party, rather he was in the state to encourage emergence of a credible leader as governor, who will keep his words after election.

According to him, “it is not time for politics. The level we are now is that of preparations and prayers. We will start politics after the emergence of candidates.”

He assured the Christian leaders in Ondo of logistic support from Christians Leaders’ Forum for the purpose of the election.
