While still basking in the euphoria of his 2012 BET Awards nomination in the Best International African Act category, Nigerian pop star, Wizkid, and his label mates in the Empire Mates Entertainment, EME, on Friday, 25 May, kicked off their first-ever EME world tour with a standout show at the Barclays Sports Centre, Lusaka, Zambia.

The show, according to sources, which featured Wizkid, Skales and DJ Xclusive, was a hit and it showed that the unbeatable team is not about slowing down any time soon. And it served as a prelude to the much hyped United Kingdom tour starting this weekend in London.

“We have spent huge resources planning to make sure this tour is not like anything our fans have seen before. This is very big for us. We believe that with God and the fans on our side, we will make Nigeria and Africa proud,” said Banky W, RnB star and EME director.

Put together by Cokobar, Barons World and EME, the UK tour will include big venue concerts, select club gigs, road stops, TV and radio performances as well as extended media visits.

Showbiz Trends learnt that EME is also working on a pan-Nigeria and United States tour, immediately after the UK tour.

Meanwhile, Wizkid, who was recently signed by Akon, in a historic international deal with EME, will on 1 July at the Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, be up to claim the Urban music and lifestyle station, BET 2012 award in the category that also have equally talented other African acts: Nigeria’s Ice Prince, Sarkodie from Ghana, Camp Mulla from Kenya, Lira from South Africa and Makobe from Mali.

Last year the EME pop prince shocked many pundits by winning the Best African Act at the 2011 edition of the MOBO Awards. He beat seasoned artistes like Seun Kuti and D’Banj to the international prize.
