The state Commissioner for Information, Mr Chuks Ugwoke, made this known while briefing journalists at the end of the state’s Executive Council meeting in Enugu .
Ugwoke said the acquisitions would mitigate the office space problems facing the state. He said the council had approved the acquisition of Colliery Hospital belonging to the corporation at the cost of N238 million which would be used as an annex for the state’s Teaching hospital. The commissioner said the hospital would function as a dedicated hospital for children and pregnant women under the free maternal and child health care.“The Enugu State Teaching Hospital is already over stretched with the influx of patients demanding attention.“The complex will serve as a referral centre from the district hospitals on issues of child and maternal health,’’ he said.
Ugwoke also said the council approved the establishment of a recreation park in Udi Local Government Area of the state. He said that a United States Leisure and Recreation company would assist the government in handling the park.
