LG Chairmen Task Students On Academics

The Chairmen of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government and Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, have charged students to see themselves as future leaders and to abide by the values and norms of the society.

They stated this during the Children’s Day celebrations in their local government secretariats recently.

Idris Bolaji Muse-Ariyoh of Oshodi-Isolo council, urged the students to avoid vices that are dangerous to their progress and the society at large.

“I want to say here that this administration places high premium on children. They are the link between the present and the future and as such, no nation worth its salt would toy with their needs and development.

“It is not an understatement to say that in the past, children have suffered neglect and subjected to all forms of child labour. Parents can hardly afford to provide their basic needs especially in the area of education.

“We are leaving no stone unturned to consolidate on the effort of the state government. Adequate attention will be paid to education and health sector. Classrooms and library with modern facilities will be built,” he assured.

The chairperson of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Mrs Mopelola Williams, enjoined the students to study well in order to attain a brighter future for themselves and the generation yet unborn.

“I stand here to say that you children are the leaders of tomorrow. You all are a generation of brighter future. Always use this season to have a good dream, vision and ambition ahead of your life.

“Life is not about merry making alone, you have to be academic conscious in whatever you do. You need to work very hard to be able to achieve success if you want to become leaders of tomorrow like presidents, governors, senators, engineers, lawyers, doctors and other important personalities in the nearest future,” she urged.
