President Goodluck Jonathan has declared a three-day period of national mourning in memory of the 153 people who died in the Dana plane that crashed in Lagos today.
Accordingly, the President has cancelled all his public engagements scheduled for tomorrow. He has also directed that the Nigerian flag be flown at half-staff for the three days of national mourning.
The President noted that the plane crash has plunged the nation into further sorrow on a day when Nigerians were already in grief over the loss of many other innocent lives in the church bombing in Bauchi State.
He also assured air travellers in the country that government will take every possible measure to ensure that such accident becomes a thing of the past in Nigeria airline industry.
