The management of the Lagos State Signage and advertisement Agency (LASAA) has allayed fears of stakeholders in the outdoor advertising industry over the sudden collapse of the iconic structure situated along the Adekunle interchange of the Third Mainland Bridge.

The agency said the failed structure was being developed by Media 2 Limited (Outdoor Advertising Practitioners).

Speaking after the collapse, the Managing Director of the agency, Mr. George Noah said “the structure which was at its finishing stage caved in

and investigation is being conducted to ascertain the development.’’

Noah said a similar structure was constructed about 50 meters away from the collapsed billboard last year. The structure also houses the same LED technology.

Speaking further Mr. Noah added that “in an industry such as this where innovation is emerging, engineering processes and procedures require higher intelligence and safety. We will use this to raise the bar henceforth.’’

Furthermore, he stated that ‘’ we want to assure members of the public particularly advertisers and the outdoor advertising industry that we will continue to implement stringent measures, procedures and standards to avert future collapse. We are working closely with the Lagos State Safety Commission for the certification of billboard designs and structures to make them fit and proper for the general public.’’
