Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, LSFA, Seyi Akinwunmi has assured that the Ekofootball Women Championship will outlive the tenure of the current board of the association.
The maiden edition of the grassroots women football tourney, which was recently concluded, saw FC Real Dynamo beating Yaba Queens 2-0 in the final at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island. The champions were given the sum of N50,000 with a giant trophy while the first runners up, Yaba Queens got the N30,000.
ìI congratulate the winners of this competition and I also commend all the participants for a job well done. Let me use this opportunity to assure that more tournaments of this magnitude will still be organised by the association and again this Ekofootball Women Championship will be a yearly affairs even after we might have left office,î he said.
FC Real Dynamo striker, Vivian Okechukwu scored seven goals to emerge the highest goal scorer of the competition. Bidemi Ibeh of Yaba Queens was the Most Valuable Player, while Unaraba Augustine of Real Dynamo was the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.
