Youngest Doctor Emerges At Babcock’s 10th Convocation

Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, marked its 10th convocation ceremony on Sunday, 3 June, 2012. It was a well attended event, as personalities from all walks of life were well represented. One of the personalities was Dr. Benjamin Carson, a United States based neuro-surgeon who separated the first Siamese twins in 1987. He was also a guest speaker during the event.
During his address, Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Kayode Makinde, highlighted some of the pains and gains of the institution, adding that many of the first class and top second class upper ranking graduates will be retained as lecturers by the varsity the after their youth service..
The institution graduated a total number of 1,370 students, out of which 61 obtained first class, 1,107 second class upper, 202 second class lower.
The Babcock School of Post-graduate Studies also produced its first set of 96 graduates, out of which 11 obtained Post-graduate diploma, 68 got Masters Degree and 17 obtained Ph.Ds. The youngest doctor, Shodipe Opeyemi, 25 also emerged the youngest Ph.D holder. Some of the graduates spoke with Campus Square.
