Bomb rocks Jos church, scores feared dead

The Nigerian police in Plateau state have confirmed a bomb explosion at a church in the capital city of Jos.

Public Relations Officer, Plateau State Police Command, Emmanuel Abuh, confirmed the explosion at the God Chosen Church.

Plateau government spokesman, Pam Ayuba said Scores of people may have died, since the explosion occurred during service and the church collapsed on worshippers.

An official of National Emergency Management Agency, Mr Tunde Olanrewaju, who was at the scene, described the situation as “serious’’.

But the official number of the dead is said to be three, while 41 were injured.

The Boko Haram, responsible for past bombings in the state, was suspected to be the architect of the latest incident.
