London 2012: Calabar Agog For Olympic Trials
Calabar, popularly known as the Canaanland is ready to host the 66th Cross River State All Nigeria Open Athletics Championships.
The event, which begins tomorrow and ends on Thursday, will hold at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar. It will be used to select Nigerian athletes for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
President of Athletic Federation of Nigeria, AFN, Solomon Ogba, expressed satisfaction with the facilities put in place by the Cross River State government for the event.
Among the athletes that have arrived for the championships are All Africa Games 4x100m gold medallist, Gloria Asumnu,400m hurdles defending champion, Ajose Odumosu, Jessica Ohanaja, Idara Otu, new national heptathlon record holder, Osazuwa Uhunoma, two-time All Africa Games queen in high jump, Doreen Amata and Nigeria’s fastest woman, Blessing Okagbare.
