The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, Umaru Manko, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Isheri Oshun Division, Egbo Kenneth.
P.M.NEWS gathered the DPO was deployed after armed robbers invaded one of the new generation banks located in the area.
Sources said the bank was blown up with dynamite and the robbers carted away millions of naira.
The operation lasted for several hours and none of the policemen made any attempt to prevent them, P.M.NEWS gathered.
This, according to police sources, did not go down well with Manko who ordered Egbo to be transferred to another division.
According to eye witnesses, the gang stormed the bank at 12.30 am and used dynamite to blow open the bank vaults and carted away the money.
They were shooting sporadically while the operation lasted without any resistance from any quarters.
When P.M.NEWS contacted the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide on the issue, she said she was not aware of the development.
According to her, “please calle me back in about three hours. I would have confirmed if it is true. I’m in a meeting now.”
At the police division at Isheri Oshun, sources at the station told P.M.NEWS that Egbo was transferred because of the incident.
This was not the first time the robbers were operating in a similar manner. Some time last year, the men of the under world blew up banks at Ayobo twice and carted away millions of naira without any resistance.
