After retaining her 100m Women’s crown at the 66th CRS All Nigeria Athletics Championship, Blessing Okagbare expressed gratitude to God for giving her strength to retain the title she won last year.
Okagbare admitted that the race was keenly contested but she was more determined.
“It was a close contest between Gloria Asunmu and I because I know that a lot of the participants prepared well and wanted to dethrone me but thank goodness, I was able to come out victorious,” she said.
Okagbare won the race in a time of 11.12 seconds while Gloria Asumnu took the second position with 11.13 seconds, Laureta Uzor placed third with 11.19 seconds while Damola Osayomi placed fourth with 11.38 seconds.
Meanwhile,there was a heavy down pour at the Esuene Stadium early this morining which delayed events that had been slated for 7a.m.
As at 9a.m., Ismael Sunday retained the 5,000m Men title.Sunday outclassed 15 other male athletes who contested to dethrone him at the ongoing championship in Calabar, Cross River State.
Shortly after the race, Sunday, who was visibly fagged out could not talk as he only muttered: “I’m too tired to talk now; later.”
