Wada begs PDP boss to settle Kogi crisis

Governor Idris Wada of Kogi state has called on Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the PDP National Chairman, to intervene in the crisis rocking the party in the state.

He made the call in Abuja on Thursday when he paid a courtesy call on Tukur.

Wada, who was accompanied by some of his cabinet and party members, told Tukur that the crisis in the state chapter of the party was worrisome.“I will be deceiving you if I tell you that all is well within our party in Kogi. Despite my effort at ensuring reconciliation in the state, there are still some pockets of indiscipline and disunity within the party.“Despite all my efforts at reconciliation, members of our party still have court cases against me.“So, I want to call on you to use your wisdom and wealth of experience with that of members of the National Working Committee (NWC) to do whatever you can to unite our party,’’ Wada said.

He noted that the major challenge facing his six-month old administration was opposition within the party, a development, he described as distracting.“The guideline of our party with regards to going to court is very clear, it states that every dispute must be resolved within the internal system of the party.’’

The governor said in the state, while some of those who lost at the elections allowed the will of the people to prevail, others continued to protest and object to such will.“The wisdom and experience we have at the national level of the party is more than what is available in the state.He added that he was running a transparent and accountable administration with a cabinet that was made up of people from all zones of the state.

Wada assured Tukur of the support and loyalty of PDP members in the state, stressing that the people were pleased with his emergence as the party`s national chairman. He also commended the chairman’s effort at ensuring party discipline and the reconciliation of aggrieved members.Responding, Tukur promised that the party would ensure discipline and unity of party members, which he said, was critical to national development.He stressed the need for the party membership to be united to enable the party face its challenges with a view to solving them.Tukur said that the party gave priority to energy development and sustainable environment to drive development across the country.
