Fela’s House Turns Museum

The Gbemisola’s home of the late Afrobeat King, Olufela Anikulapo–Kuti a.k.a Fela Anikulapo, has been turned into museum P.M.Entertainment can reveal.

Investigations revealed that the government of Lagos State is currently financing the project following a proposal by the Kutis led by Yeni Anikulapo Kuti.

When P.M. Entertainment called Fela’s house, it was discovered that construction has began in earnest towards turning the house into museum.

It was gathered that when the project is completed it will house all Fela’s memorabilia including his clothes, shoes, equipment and other items.

Fela’s daughter, Yeni, confirmed the on-going project, saying; “Yes, the Lagos State government has agreed to turn Fela’s house into a museum and we are happy about that.”

The project is being handled by Total Consults, a firm of architects and builders, which equally converted the first prison in central Lagos to The Freedom Park.

When completed, the museum which will be named Kalakuta Museum will house a coffee shop, a five-room bouquet hotel, a roof top restaurant, a bar and a stage, a souvenir shop, a passenger lift, the tomb area as well as car park. It will be declared open on 15 October, 2012 to coincide with the 2912 edition of Felabration.

Seun led the Egypt 80 band to do a special song for the celebrant, Ara performed too, a popular juju musician entertained guests and the well attended birthday party.

Tuface Idibia, Essence, Kenny St Best,Weird MC, Omobaba, the popular stand comedian thrilled the audience during the cutting of cake segment of the golden jubilee anniversary.

An elated Femi broke protocol to perform for his friends, fans and family members, saying thank you for being part of this historic event.

Other guests that graced the occasion include Oscar Ibru, Bolaji Rosiji, Tee Mac Omatseli, Kunle Anikulapo-Kuti, Ademola Bailey of Next World IT, Kunle Bakare, Femi Lasode, Stone, mother of Femi’s first child,  Funke, Yeni’s daughter, Rolari, Femi Segun  and others.
