Ogun Civil Servants Begin Week With Health Walk

Civil servants in Ogun State Tuesday morning trooped out in large numbers as they embarked on a health walk to flag off a week- long programme of events commemorating the 2012 Civil Service week in the state.

The walk which started from the main bowl of the M.K.O Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta about 7.05 am was led by the governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and the Head of Service, Mrs. Modupe Adekunle.

Others in attendance include members of state Executive Council, Permanent Secretaries and other Civil Servants in the state.

The walk which lasted for over an hour took the train through Kuto-CBN –Omida to Ibara roundabout and Lalubu back to Kuto.

Addressing the Civil Servants in attendance, the governor, Senator Amosun congratulated the workers for the week appreciating their ability to effectively participate in the walk.

He advised them to always engage in regular exercises noting that it will help them mentally and physically.

He pointed out that this would enhance their productivity.

While expressing the hope that next year’s celebration would be more interesting and fun-packed, Amosun charged the workers to be ‘Ogun Standard’ compliant for best results.

Speaking earlier, the Head of Service, Mrs. Adekunle enjoined the workers to participate fully in all the programmes scheduled for the celebration and rededicate themselves to the service so that the State Civil Service could sustain its leading position in the nation.

The celebration of the 2012 Civil Service Week continues on Thursday with a health diagnostic programme and a lecture on “Capacity Development for the Implementation of the Rebuilding Agenda” delivered by the immediate past Head of Service, Princess Iyabo Odulate at the June 12 Cultural Centre Kuto, Abeokuta.
