Driver, 2 Security men Remanded

A driver and two external security personnel employed by Guinness Nigeria Plc, Ikeja, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have been arrested by the police in Area ‘G’ Command, Ogba and charged to court for stealing Guinness drinks valued at over N3 million.

The suspects, Imo Akpan, 24, a native of Akwa Ibom State, Sebastine Nwokolo, 36, from Delta State and Adejoh Mark, 32 from Kogi State were alleged to have conspired to steal the products from the company.

Luck ran out on them when information got to the Area ‘G’ Commander, Mr. Ishola Abdulahi, an Assistant Commissioner of Police who immediately sent  his men to the scene at Ashade Market where the suspects were arrested while others escaped.

When CrimeWatch visited Area ‘G’ Command, the truck used in stealing with the products was seen in the premises.

The Area Commander said the suspects have been charged to court and remanded in Kirikiri Prison bcause they could not meet their bail conditions.

The suspects, according to him, were charged with a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

Count 1 reads: “That you Imoh Akpan, Nwokolo Sebastine and Adejoh Mark and others now at large on 14 June, 2012 at about 22:45hrs at Guinness Nigeria Plc, Ogba, in the Ikeja magisterial district did conspire among yourselves to commit felony therein and thereby committed an offence under Section 409 of the criminal Law, vol. 44 laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.”

They pleaded not guilty and were granted bail each in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties.

They were ordered remanded at the Kirikiri Prison when they could not meet their bail conditions.

The matter has been adjourned till 25 July, this year.
