Chairman of the Lagos State Volleyball Association, Owolabi Martins, has warned that heavy penalty awaits any school that uses mercenaries in the maiden Senator Anthony Adefuye Inter-Schools Volleyball Championship, which begins at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba, this afternoon.
About 26 schools are taking part in the three days competition, which ends on Friday. Martins told P.M.Sports early today that the target of the organisers and sponsors of the tournament will not be achieved if mercenaries are allowed to feature in the age grade schools tournament.
“This tournament is organised to discover volleyball talents among our school children. We will punish any school that registers ineligible students. The plan is to ban such school from the tournament for two years,” said Martins.
