Defending champions, Current Football Club of Bariga take on Holly Football Club today in one of the quarter finals of the ongoing Gbagada Mock Nations Cup holding at Gbagada playground, Lagos. Chief Coach of the team, Bello Quadri Adeyemi, spoke about his team’s preparedness and expectations with SUNDAY AKINTOYE
How are you preparing for your quarter final game against Holly FC?
Our preparation was quite good and I am looking forward to a good match against our opponents. We are the defending champions of Gbagada Mock Nations Cup and we can defend the title very well.
What give you the confidence that your team can retain the trophy?
I have a formidable team that are hungry for success. They did well in the matches we played in the group stage and I am convinced that they can go all the way to the final to retain the title.
Could you tell us your toughest match so far in this championship?
Our toughest match was the one we played against Honour FC in the group stage. It was a toughest match because my team needed an outright victory, while our opponents just needed a draw to qualify. I thank God that we won the encounter 2-1, which earned us our qualification to the quarter final.
That shows that your team played their last group game against Honour FC under pressure
Like I said earlier we needed a victory to qualify and our opponents just needed a point to scale through. I was relieved of the pressure when the match ended in our favour . It was a tough match, but I thank God that we scaled the hurdle.
Any advice for your team as they face Holly FC in one of the quarter final matches today?
My advice for them is to remain focus and approach the game with all seriousness so that we can get a good result at the end of the game.
