Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets For MRI Test

By BIMBO AJAYI

Players of Nigeria’s U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets are to undergo Magnetic Resonant Imaging, MRI, test next week.

Reports from the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, say the players must be tested ahead of the African Junior Championship, AJC, first leg qualifying match against Niger Republic in September.

The MRI, is a test that gives information about the bone structures in the body, particularly the wrists, through an X-ray, ultrasound, or Computed Tomography, CT scan.

On the preparedness of the Eaglets for the task ahead,
Assistant Coach, Nduka Ugbade, said the players are responding to training, but ruled out the possibilities of inviting new players to the camp.

Ugbade, who led Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets to their maiden title triumph at the FIFA U-16 World Cup held in China ’85, revealed that the coaching crew, led by Manu Garba, does not intend to extend invitations to more players.

Rather, Ugbade said the crew are satisfied with the youngsters in the cadet team, concluding that they are capable to do the country proud when the qualifiers begin.
