Housemaid Steals Master's N2.7m, N3.5 Jewellery

A 16-year old house help, Susan Joshua, allegedly stole her master’s N5 million (cash and jewellery) and gave it to  fraudsters known as money doublers,  to make her  rich.

The teenager allegedly broke into her master’s bedroom at Oluwaseun Street, Agodo Egbe, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, and stole $18,000 (about N2.7 million) and gold jewellery worth N3.5 million.

The girl was said to have given the money to the fraudsters to help her  double it but she was duped.

The police at Ikotun  Division have arrested one of the suspects, Chukwunonso Ezeogu, for the alleged  crime, while others are at large.

Ezeogu was charged before Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court for obtaining under false pretence.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the teenager was accosted at LASU road, Egbe by fraudsters who told her to bring the money, promising to help her double it.

The teenager reportedly went to their house,  ransacked her master’s bedroom  and stole  the money and the jewellery which she  gave to them.

When the fraudsters disappeared with the stolen items, the teenager  went home and told her boss about what happened.

The police later arrested Ezeogu and charged him to court under  Sections 312 and 285 of the Criminal  Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011. But he  pleaded not guilty to the crime.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. B. Folami, granted him  bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

Ezeogu was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when he will meet his bail conditions.The matter  has been adjourned till  6 August 2012 for further hearing.
