Oba Of Isheri Alerts Police On Threat To His Life

The traditional ruler of Isheri-Olofin, Egbe/Idimu Local Council Development Area, LCDA, and Chairman, Alimosho Traditional Council, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, Oba Wahab Ayinde Balogun, has alerted the police on threats to his life.

In a letter to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko dated Monday, 2 July, 2012, titled: ‘Threat To Life And Request For Police Protection’, the monarch said there have been several threats to his life by some people believed to be hired killers.

Oba Balogun stated that the hoodlums had been prowling the precincts of his palace along the Isheri-LASU expressway at odd hours between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. on motorcycles and unmarked vehicles, leaving verbal messages that they would eliminate him between Saturday, 14 July and Sunday, 15 July 2012.

The monarch, who recently lost one of his sons, said: “Apart from the verbal threats, a very reliable source who pleaded for anonymity informed me of a clandestine plot to kill me at a meeting held somewhere at Idimu in Egbe/Idimu LCDA, Lagos State.”

He called on the commissioner of police to provide police protection for him and his family at the palace and its environs so as to save him from the unidentified gunmen.

The death threats are coming after Oba Wahab Balogun, on 15 May, 2012, won a 32-year old Idimu land suit against a prominent family in Ikosi-Idimu.
