Robbery Operation Foiled
A team of anti-robbery policemen form Area E Police Command, Okoko Division, Ojo, Lagos, has arrested two men who were allegedly planning to go on a robbery operation in Festac Town.
The policemen who were on patrol were said to be on patrol around Okoko bus stop at about 7.30pm on the day when they saw two men alight from a bus coming from Badagry.
One of the policemen suspected them and went to grab the one that was carrying a polythene bag while the other ran away.
According to Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer, Ngozi Braida, the suspect started fighting the policeman but was overpowered and when he was searched, three locally made pistols and four live cartridges were found in the bag.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed that they were going for a robbery operation in one of the estates around Festac. He told the police that there are other members of the gang and their meeting place is at Agbara. He was said to have led the policemen to arrest his fleeing colleague.
The Area Commander, Mr Dan Okoro(ACP) warned the estate residents to always watch their securitymen and house helps because some of them collaborate with robbers.
The PPRO, Ngozi Braida said: “The two suspects will be charge for armed robbery while investigation is still on to track down other robbers.”
She advised the public to always be security conscious and mind the people they employ as robbers operate on information.
