Ewuga praises Supreme Court verdict

Mr Solomon Ewuga has said his victory in the Supreme Court judgment indicated that Nigeria judiciary remained the last hope of a common man.

Ewuga of the Congress for Progressive (CPC) was on July 6, declared winner of the April 2011 Nasarawa-North senatorial election by the Supreme Court.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in his country home Alushi, Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government that the judgment was a victory for democracy.

He said that in spite of the controversy over the election, the judgment had rekindled the public hope and confidence in the rule of law.

“We now have confidence that courts are the last hope of everyone to seek redress and get justice,” he said.

Ewuga, a former Minister of State for FCT, said he would dedicate the victory to the entire people of Nasarawa State.

He said it was particularly for CPC supporters in Nasarawa-Eggon for persistently staying with him and ensuring that what they voted for was given to them.

“I am delighted with all my supporters, who stood by me throughout the trial period to see that their right representative, whom they voted for is in the senate.”

The former deputy governor of Nasarawa State also promised to ensure delivery of dividends of democracy to the people of his district.

Ewuga also pledged to use his position to facilitate more Federal Government presence in his district to ensure even development.

He urged the people of the state and Nigerians to always embrace peace saying: “peace is a vital tool for any nation to move forward”.

Ewuga thanked Gov. Tanko Al-makura, for his support and his effort in bringing development to the people of the state.
