The Vice Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Lagos West Senatorial District, Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku, has denied any plan to dump the party for Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, adding that the defection of his former Chief Security Officer, CSO, Abdul Razak Rafiu, has nothing to do with him.

Speaking on Monday during a press conference at his residence, he said the defection of Rafiu to the PDP last Saturday did not in anyway affect his own membership of the ruling ACN in Lagos State.

“The defection of my former CSO, Mr Abdul Razak Rafiu a.k.a. Oto to the PDP from where he defected to join the ACN, has nothing to do with me and does not in anyway affect my membership of ACN. I did not know him until he defected from the PDP and was seconded to me by my leaders in the party.

“Oto left me immediately Dr Kayode Fayemi became the governor of Ekiti State. He was with him briefly before he moved to the State of Osun with my leader, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. ACN is a party I believe in, have laboured for and in which I am a stakeholder.

“In all ramifications, I wish to dissociate myself from his defection as I remain a loyal and committed member of ACN. I therefore wish to dispel all the rumours that may connect me with the defection of Oto to the PDP. I remain steadfastly committed to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ACN,” he assured.

He said that in his sojourn in partisan politics, he has always been with the progressive in Nigeria right from the days of Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, Alliance For Democracy, AD, to Action Congress, AC and now Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.

“As it is in practise in other advanced democracies, people have freedom of opinion and action which is also complemented by the fact of freedom of association. I wish to state emphatically that I am still a member of the ACN and I remain steadfastly committed to its ideals and should not be expressly connected to the political adventurism of other people,” he said.
