Post-UMTEC Written Under Tight Security
In an attempt to ensure strict supervision, invigilation and adequate security measures, the authorities of University of Ibadan on Monday closed its three gates to members of the public as 7,200 students invited for this year’s Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination sat for the examination.
The only people allowed into the campus were staff and motorists driving private cars with the institution’s stickers on the windscreen.
Also, all the examinations for the undergraduate programmes scheduled for today were postponed as the institution ordered its students to stay away from all the faculties and lecture theatres where the examination was taking place.
The situation caused severe traffic jams at all the entry points as each vehicle was thoroughy checked before being allowed to go in.
The parents who brought their children to sit for the examination were not allowed in. They were forced to drop their children at the gates.
A press release signed by the institution’s Dirctor of Public Relations, Mr. Olatunji Oladejo had earlier announced the restriction of movement of unregistered vehicles and motorcycles during the examination and that the restriction was to lapse by 2 p.m. today.
