Mr Chijioke Umudum, the Coordinator of Management, Information, Communication and Technology units, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, said that 26,587 candidates who wrote the institution’s Post University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), passed.

Umudum disclosed this in Awka on Thursday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.

The institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Boniface Egboka, had earlier said that the National Universities Commission (NUC) approved the admission quota of 4,370 to the university.

Umudum said that about 51, 952 prospective candidates made the 180 to 200 cut-off marks for admission into the respective faculties.

“Available records showed that about 46,856 candidates out of which 24,973 were females and 21, 733 males sat for the examination.

“Those who scored above the 40 per cent pass mark are about 26,587 while 20,269 scored below 40 per cent,” Umudum said.

The coordinator advised candidates with ‘no result’ and ‘invalid result’ to visit the institution’s web site to see the errors that led to their predicament.

He, however, warned those who met the pass mark for admission to be wary of fraudsters as “admission into UNIZIK is not for sale.” (NAN)
