Driver Throws Road Marshal Out Of Moving Bus
In his desperate bid to evade arrest and prosecution, a driver, Seun Adenuga, allegedly threw a Federal Road Safety Corps official, Kehinde Adeoye, out of a moving vehicle while on Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.
The road Marshal survived the fall but sustained serious injuries.
Adeoye was later rushed to a hospital by his colleagues and passers by.
He is still receiving treatment at the hospital since the incident happened a few weeks ago.
It was gathered that the road Marshal attached to Ebute Meta Zonal office of the FRSC accosted Seun Adenuga over an alleged traffic offence.
He entered Adenuga’s vehicle in order to arrest and take him to his office.
While his bus was in motion, Adenuga with his accomplice (who was inside the vehicle) threw out Adeoye, who sustained injuries. The driver’s accomplice immediately took to his heels.
Adenuga, 34, was later arrested and docked at Yaba Magistrate’s Court charged with attempted murder.
The police prosecutor said the offence is contrary to Section 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
When the charge was read to him, Adenuga pleaded not guilty.
The trial Magistrate, Mr.O.S. Aka-Bashorun, admitted him to bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till 15 August, 2012 for mention.
The driver was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos pending when he will meet his bail conditions.
