Isekolowo Cup Kicks Off In Ibeju Lekki


The first Isekolowo Soccer Championship has kicked off at Idiagbon Community in Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Lagos State.

The grassroots soccer tournament, which will be played every Sunday at the playground of African Church Primary School, Ifako, Ibeju, began on 8 July and will end on 5 August.

Chief Coordinator of the tourney, Lanre Arogundade said the need to use football to promote unity among the indigenes of Idiagbon community, and importantly to engage the youths of the area productively, encouraged the staging of the competition.

The tourney is sponsored by Councillor Ward B in Ibeju Lekki LG, Mr. Abisola Fadayomi, and supported by the Sports Viewing Centre Association of Nigeria, Ifako-Iju, Lagos chapter, KSS Stores and Taferbol Block Industry.

Dignitaries that included Oba Fatusi Obawole of Ifakoland, watched the first round of matches played last Sunday, where Faleke drew 3-3 with Oshunkeye, while Isale Aro beat Ajakaiye 2-0. Adeeko also defeated Durosimi 2-1, while some matches will be played next Sunday at the same venue.
