'Permsec' Jonathan mourns victims of fuel tanker fire

Wife of Nigeria’s President, Dame Patience Jonathan, who also doubles as a permanent secretary in her husband’s state of Bayelsa, has expressed condolence to families of the victims of Thursday’s fuel tanker explosion at Okogbe in Rivers.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday by Mr Ayo Osinlu, the Special Assistant (Media) to Dame Patience, prayed for quick recovery for those who suffered various degrees of injury in the incident.

“I condole with those who lost loved ones in the incident, and pray that God will give their families the fortitude to bear the loss,” she said.

She thanked the Federal Government for its prompt intervention by directing federal relief and health agencies to “provide the survivors with prompt, adequate and effective assistance’’.

The President’s wife extended her condolences to the government and people of Okogbe, and urged all Nigerians to be more safety-conscious in their activities.

It will be recalled that more than 90 people were killed on Thursday following a tank truck explosion in Okogbe in Ahoada West Local Government Area of River when they struggled to scoop Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) spewed from a tanker.
