Two car snatchers who trailed the wife of a prominent traditional ruler to a house in Lagos at gun point to snatch her Land Rover SUV, have been arrested in Ibadan, Oyo state, southwest Nigeria.
The suspects identified as Adewale Ogunbiyi and Saheed Idris are of no fixed address.
P.M.NEWS investigations revealed that the suspects were arrested during a stop and search after a tip-off in another stolen Toyota Corolla car marked SF 442 KJA by detectives attached to Agodi Divisional Headquarters, Ibadan.
The suspects were later transferred to Oko-Oba Division in Lagos, the jurisdiction where the crime was committed.
In their confessional statement to P.M.NEWS the suspects said: “We sold the Land Rover jeep snatched from Olori Kabiyesi to a businessman in the Republic of Benin. The police in Ibadan arrested us when we were on our way to deliver the Toyota Corolla car to the receiver.”
Items recovered from the suspects include one locally-made double barrel gun and two livel cartridges.
The suspects have been transferred to the Special Anti Robbery Squad(SARS) Ikeja for further interrogation.
