Apart from the usual sporting activities of the Olympics, Nigeria and other nations of the black continent will have the opportunity of showcasing their rich cultural heritages during the Summer Games and the Paralympics.
Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa is putting in place an Africa Village in Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park during the Games.
Africa Village will serve as the official reception area for Africa’s 53 national Olympic committees. Each of the 53 nations will be represented in the continental house – a first for the Olympic Games. Stands will present the best of each country with live music, fashion, dancing, and of course, food. Africa Village will be made up of Africa Land and Africa House.
Africa House will be a private area for the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa to meet with athletes and the African Olympic family. It will host press conferences and other forums.
Africa Land will include cultural and artistic performances by at least 25 countries including Nigeria, Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, Central Africa, Congo Brazzaville, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Equatorial Gunea, Libya, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo, Tunisia and Uganda. There will also be a photography exhibition of legendary African sportsmen and women from previous Games. African athletes will visiting the village every day to meet fans and showcase their medals.

The Olympic Games are taking place from 25 July to 12 August and the Paralympic Games from 29 August to 9 September 2012.
