Bus Crushes LASTMA Man

An official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Mr. Mustapher Adeleke has been crushed to death by a bus driver. The incident happened on Tuesday at Oke-Afa, Ejigbo area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

The driver of the blue Volkswagen LT Bus, with registration number LSR 942 XC drove against traffic before killing the LASTMA officer.

The deceased Adeleke, 34, joined the Lagos State Civil Service in 2002 as a Traffic Assistant, was married and had children.

P.M.NEWS gathered that Adeleke who was at his duty post at Oke Afa, Ejigbo with his colleagues were part of the team drafted to the axis to control traffic and prevent drivers from driving against traffic along Mile 2 area.

The driver of the bus, Haruna Nuru was said to have driven against traffic from Isolo end of the road and hit the officer from behind.

Mustapha was later rushed to the Isolo General Hospital and was confirmed dead. The corpse has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

The driver, having noticed that he had hit a government official escaped with the vehicle and was later apprehended at Abimbola Road, Limca area, Aye, after Isolo bus stop by eye witnesses and handed over to the police.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Engr. Babatunde Edu while confirming the incident, said that the suspect had been handed over to the police at Okota Police Station for prosecution.
