DSTV Men's League: Multichoice, NBBF Plan Big For Playoffs

MulticChoice Nigeria, the parent company of sponsor of Nigerian men’s basketball league, DSTV Africa and Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF have assured Nigerians of exciting playoff, when the Super 8 tourney dunks off this weekend.

The final-8 playoffs, which will be used to determine Nigerian league champions, will feature eight teams from the Atlantic and Savannah Conferences at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Managing Director of MultiChoice, John Ugbe, represented by Head of Marketing, Akin Salu at the press conference ahead of the playoffs, said there will be an improvement in this year’s competition.

“After almost four years of sponsorship of Nigeria basketball league, one thing we would assure our numerous fans is that they would witness an improved Super 8 Playoffs in terms of branding, awareness, visibility and kitting of officials and players of the participating teams,” he said.

General Manager of SuperSport, Felix Nwogu said that Nigeria basketball would continue to witness greater success if more corporate bodies can emulate MultiChoice.

First Vice-President of the NBBF, Muktar Kaleh appreciated the support given to the federation by the sponsor since the company began the sponsorship of the domestic league in 2009.

He also posited that Nigeria’s berth at the Olympics for the first time was achieved owing to the tremendous contribution of MultiChoice Nigeria to the Nigerian basketball.

The Chairman, Local Organising Committee, LOC, of the playoff, Babs Ogunade said: “Plans have been concluded to make the competition a huge success.

Playing in the playoffs are Dodan Warriors, the defending champions, Royal Hoopers, Islanders and Police Baton from Atlantic conference, while Kano Pillars, Yelwa Hawks, Niger Potters and Kada Stars are from  Savannah Conference.
