Killer Of LASTMA Man Docked

The bus driver Nuru Haruna, who allegedly killed a LASTMA official while driving against traffic at Pako roundabout Isolo, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, has been charged to court.

Haruna drove a blue Volkswagen bus marked LSR 942XC, and knocked down an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Mustapha Adeleke, which later resulted in his death.

The suspect was charged to Magistrate’s Court 1, Isolo and granted bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum by Magistrate I.O.  Akinkugbe.

The Magistrate further said on of the sureties must be a civil servant of not less than Grade Level 10, and that both sureties must provide proof of tax payment.

When Haruna could not perfect his bail conditions he was remanded in prison, while the case was adjourned till 27, August for further hearing.

The LASTMA, Public Relations Officer, Mr. Richard Omolase, warned motorists to shun assault on its staff and personnel as the authority would no longer tolerate these barbaric acts.
