We Don’t Have A Team Yet —Media Officer
The Media Officer of Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets, Morakinyo Abodunrin says the MRI test, which exposed at least 18 players of the team will not affect the squad, as the coaches are still in the process of building a team for the country.
Abodunrin told P.M.Sports on Friday that the coaches have been screening the players and are poised to get the best for Nigeria. “There is a measure of sincerity in what we are doing, and I urge Nigerians to be patient with the coaches, who are working hard to raise a true U-17 team for the nation,” he said.
Abodunrin noted that the latest screening, via the MRI test, was just one of ways being employed to ensure that the players selected are not above the age limit.
the series of tests being to determine the real ages of the players was an extension of what the authorities have been doing to get a real U-17 team for the country.
“There is a measure of sincerity in whatever we are doing in the Eaglets. I think the authorities have been sincere by calling for scientific screening of the athletes to determine the players’ ages to avoid any international embarrassment. This should be commended.
“I will only implore Nigerians to be patient as there is no cause for alarm. The coaching crew of the Eaglets should not be distracted because in the long run we’ll have a real U-17 Golden Eaglets for Nigeria,” said Abodunrin.
