Nigeria’s south east governors back zonal integration
Governors of the South East geopolitical zone have restated their commitment to strengthen economic cooperation and tackle security issues in the zone.
Governor Peter Obi, the Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum, announced this in Enugu on Sunday after the meeting of the governors.
Obi, who briefed journalists after the meeting of the governors, said their discussions centred on two issues and how to move the zone and the country forward.
“Our dear friends in the press, you have seen that we held a very long meeting but this meeting actually bothered strictly on two issues.
“The first one is the economic cooperation of the South East, which we are committed to ensuring that we do the right thing and again the security cooperation within the South East,’’ he said.
The meeting, which lasted for over five hours, ended without a communiqué.
Governors Rochas Okorocha of Imo, Martin Elechi of Ebonyi, Theodore Orji of Abia and Sullivan Chime of Enugu attended the meeting.
